Greyhaven is sharply stratified along documentation lines. Four broad classes:

Inscribed

  • High strata. Important.
  • Maintain multigenerational family trees.
  • Generational wealth.
  • The most powerful houses.
  • Rivals legitimate government due to their wealth.

Accounted

  • Middle class.
  • Craftsmen, clerks, soldiers, possibly some government workers.
  • Adrik is Accounted.

Lapsed

  • Possibly no documentation.
  • Lost by the city.

Unaccounted

  • Lower class.
  • A sizable but ignored population.
  • Adrik tries to help them — cares profoundly because of the socioeconomic inequality.
  • Adrik also routes The Beggar toward an almshouse via a specific guard captain (Session 30).

In practice

  • Crime happens but is taken care of promptly — Greyhaven is a safe city.
  • The party have visas, so they can come and go with Adrik.
  • The safest city Adrik has ever lived in.
