On the way
Rode for four hours until the carriage stopped. Decided to walk the rest of the way — estimated arrival by dusk.
Yort Li gave everyone beer from his jug. Ruasar looked and saw his reflection — drawn and grey, pale skin, whites of eyes plus pupils blue. Sea Hag fucking with us.
Heard the Sea Hag’s voice taunting and being bad at math. Felt the tug of our souls as we continued.
The Harrow’s Wake
Approached the ravine and saw the Harrow’s Wake still moored, but looking terrible. Surprised it never left.
Decided to backtrack to set up camp for the night. Elijah J. Lucas looked back before leaving — saw the Harrow’s Wake was actually a sunken wreck. Tower dilapidated, hadn’t changed much. 3 stories. Cave mouth still smelled like rot.
Camp
Set up camp.
- Ruasar set up Alarm spell.
- Watch order: Lorien Painbearer, Elijah J. Lucas, Ruasar, Cisco, Yort Li.
- Lorien used Detect Undead — detected himself.
- Elijah J. Lucas woke from a nightmare.
Fitful sleep — sound of the surf turning to breathing. Black shore with a sky of water. Crunching on bones. Everyone here, frozen. Hag rises from the surf. (Ask Hans for the rest.)
The Harrow’s Wake is probably fucked.
We all shared the dream.
On watch
- Elijah heard absolutely nothing on his watch. Literally nothing.
- Ruasar spent the time analyzing his spell book.
- Cisco took watch and felt optimistic somehow.
- Yort Li applied Iron Claw balm, half-thought about his family. Asked Lorien Painbearer if he was a good father; Lorien deflected. Got weird with Lorien, then woke Cisco with his boomwhacker. Contemplated Elijah J. Lucas’s lack of conscience.
Headed to the ravine. Sensed a coming storm. Elijah saw nothing wrong. Sent Fernie up for overwatch while breaking camp.
At the cave entrance
Two bodies hung from the entrance. Twitching as if alive. Crewmen from the Harrow’s Wake. One was Silas the Rat, the crow’s-nest boy.
- Elijah J. Lucas shot his longbow at the seaweed holding Silas. Missed and nailed his chest. Saltwater poured out.
- Cisco shot at the seaweed with his crossbow. Also hit his chest. Intestines poured out.
- Changed paces. Yort Li checked if the other guy was alive. Oh shit — they are.
- Sent Fernie to cut him down. It worked. Lorien Painbearer caught him — felt like a wine bag.
- Lorien lowered him to the ground. Cisco poked him — kinda like a wine bag, bones were coral.
- Cisco said leave. Ruasar mentioned Forest Hag’s thralls.
- Yort Li drew his claws from neck to sternum to prevent them rising. A full ecosystem of coral, eels, saltwater, fish, etc. came out of the opening.
Ruasar horrified — thinks they could have been saved. Big argument. Ruasar on the cusp of leaving.
We entered the cave. Lorien and Cisco had to drag Ruasar in.
Lit torches. Walked further until we saw a few figures staggering and dribbling seawater from their mouths.
