The final fight

Captain Stormeye rose from the water. The Sea Hag was there too.

Combat:

  • Cisco immediately blinded the Sea Hag.
  • Tried to persuade Stormeye to come back to us, for his wife (turns out he doesn’t have one). Worked for a brief instant.
  • Sea Hag struck fear into Yort Li — saw his worst nightmare: Dear Li standing over his wife’s body with a knife. “Oopsie-Daisy.”
  • Yort Li kept healing Elijah J. Lucas.
  • Cisco tried Stormeye again, reminding him of his crew. Worked again briefly.
  • Yort Li, while enbiggened, lumbered over and used inspiration to Inflict Wounds on the hag. Nat 20 turned into 8d10 and 53 damage.
  • Inspired, Elijah J. Lucas turned away from the enemy he was engaging and charged the badly injured Sea Hag — provoked an opportunity attack.
  • Nat 20 (third in a row, as Fernie got one same turn). Downed Elijah. Lingering injury: Exsanguinating / cut artery. RIP achilles heel.
  • Cisco saved Elijah from death (but not his artery) with a healing potion. Tried Stormeye again — very, very close now.
  • Stormeye rushed Ruasar for the kill. Missed both strikes.
  • Ruasar, emboldened, goaded Stormeye into reaching into the head trap. It worked. Stormeye stuck his head in — restrained and blinded.
  • Fernie thrashed the Sea Hag from side to side while Elijah slashed her with a freezing strike, all while spraying blood from his artery.
  • Lorien Painbearer finished the job with Divine Smite.

The Sea Hag is no more.

She sloughed away. We felt a hook releasing as her control over us was relinquished.

Lorien Painbearer’s doppelganger (which the Sea Hag spawned the previous turn but didn’t have time to act with) walked into Lorien.

Stormeye now had the trap around his head, as per the rules, and wept beside Bjorn Ironfoot’s body.

Level 5.

Ruasar stopped Elijah’s bleeding.
