Former Lord of Brackenford. General piece of shit. Killed by the party in Session 15.
Background
Came to Brackenford from afar — tall, broad-shouldered, charismatic. Wanted to bring prosperity to a struggling port town. It worked for a while, but he went too far and was too ambitious. Obsessed with power, then unnatural power. Sacrificed Lady Serenna (his long-lost love) for the heart artifact.
Became a recluse in the manor, taking what he wanted from the village via his guards.
In the campaign
- Met by the party in Session 05 in the manor study, fawning over the (blue) heart. Gave them the cryptic mission to Briarhollow.
- Confronted by the party at twilight in the town center in Session 14. Showed up with the heart embedded in his breastplate. The Battle for Brackenford began.
- Heart cracked the forest stone chain, killing Edward in the blast. Alric stayed alive by killing two innocents (a guard’s wife among them) at a distance.
- Defeated by Lorien Painbearer in Session 15; the heart sank into Lorien’s chest with Ilmater’s blessing.
- “I am sorry young man / boy” — last words to Lorien Painbearer (with Cisco holding his hand) before dying.
- Cisco looted the Ring of the Phantom Carriage off his body during the death scene.
Statue identical to Alric in Briarhollow turned out to be of “the Weeping Sentinel,” not Alric — discovered in Session 10.
