Dragonborn ranger. Travels with Fernie — who is, in truth, a gold dragon.
Background
Birth name REDACTED BRO, from NICE TRY DUDE. Grew up in a Dragonborn clan named NOT YET LATER, where he was a junior member of a scout, tracking, and hunting group called You’re gonna have to wait. Gained proficiency in hunting with scimitars and longbows.
The reason he left: Fernie’s egg was meant to be sacrificed for power. Elijah refused — power is not worth Fernie — broke sacred oaths, and stole the egg. He’s been on the run ever since, with Fernie at his side. The clan’s bounty hunters caught up to him in Session 31: a squad of six dragonborn led by Vaerix Thalos, sent to recover the relic.
Made his way to the coast for passage to new lands, then took on a goblin-camp clearing job where he met the rest of the party.
In the campaign
- Cleared goblin camp pre-Session 0 (the meet-cute with the rest of the party).
- Aboard the Harrow’s Wake, mostly worked as a deckhand alongside Silas the Rat.
- Frequently goes shopping at Garric Smith’s smithy — eventually arranged for Fernie’s mechanical leg with reinforced talons in Session 12.
- Wounded badly in Session 27: lingering exsanguinating injury / cut artery.
- Taught Lorien dragonchess while waiting at the Greyhaven ledger office in Session 30.
- Fernie’s full name (Infernoxus) was added to the Greyhaven forgery in Session 30 as Infernoxus Lucas, formalizing her as part of his family on the doc.
- Took on smithy work for Adrik in Session 30 — repairs and maintenance as much as money.
- In Session 31, spotted Vaerix Thalos and the squad of six dragonborn in the Greyhaven crowd. Immediately turned around with Fernie and headed back to Adrik’s room. Rolled Stealth (15) to slip away — seemed to work.
- Sat back-to-wall with sword drawn when Lorien came in, and tested him: what would you do if someone tried to sacrifice Fernie for power? Lorien said it would be unjust. Trust was kept. They sat in companionable silence.
- Revealed to Cisco and Adrik that Fernie is a gold dragon and that her egg was meant to be sacrificed for power — Elijah saved her, broke sacred oaths, and the dragonborn pursuers are after the relic. Power is not worth Fernie. Told the party he will pay more than the bounty — or kill them.
- Took on Thrain’s warehouse-investigation contract in Session 32. Couldn’t disguise himself effectively — cannot fit in Lorien’s helmet. Climbed in last to Warehouse 17 and snuck upstairs with Fernie to find the bedrooms while the rest of the party investigated the office.
- Gave Thrain an abridged account of the dragonborn situation in Session 33. Wants new lodging, armaments, and a disguise (no real weaponsmiths in the city — needs to be creative). Visited The Boutique with Cisco for that disguise; The Boutique Mistress designed Fernie a warhorse / war-dog-style outfit. Elijah unconvinced.
Equipment of note
- Longbow (originally gained via Fernie’s labor at the smithy, replaced after the wreckage in Session 06)
- Reinforced enhanced talons (+1 attack)
Notable allies
- Fernie — his hawk
- Hal — the young Brackenford guard, kid attached to him in Session 10
